Turning a dream into reality

When a local farmer told us ‘ you have to go and take a look at Bunkers Hill Road – the best views in Kangaroo Valley’ we drove up and our jaws literally fell out of our mouths. Kangaroo Valley has many stunning locations but, he was right, upper Bunkers Hill Road is another level again.
When we first purchased the property we literally had a blank canvas to work with. 146 acres of rolling grasslands and rain forest and over 1 km of creek frontage.
We decided we wanted to share this little piece of paradise with others. To start with we have built 3 tourist villas. Building is a challenge at the best of times but building 3 villas during Covid pandemic and La Nina rain events which impacted access roads was something else! Being a rural property we have had to construct all the infrastructure – driveways, sewer systems, water tanks. We decided to go off-grid by providing our own solar power system and internet infrastructure. We are certainly not the first to do that but not many have done that while seeking to provide a luxury high-end experience for guests. We call it Eco-Luxe and in the next blog I’ll tell you a bit more about that because many of our guests have asked us to explain how it works.
The constant La Nina rain events have meant we have not yet been able to finish off the landscaping, remove the builders container from one of the driveways, cut silage on the grasslands or tidy up the many tracks around the property or the area down by our Olympic size natural swimming hole in the creek. However, despite that, we had guests since April come and enjoy an environmentally sustainable Eco-Luxe experience Jingella Estate. Many are just happy to stay in their villas and enjoy the seclusion and the ever-changing views of the valley and sandstone escarpment. Others are more adventurous and love to explore the nature walks and in particular go down to the creek.
This is just the beginning of our journey and we have a vision to constantly enhance the experience for our guests and ourselves. Stay tuned. Better still come and experience it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
