Jingella Estate is more than accommodation – it is an experience. With 146 acres of grassland, forest and creek frontage you have much to explore on the property, as well as Kangaroo Valley village and area beyond.
At Jingella
- Golf on our private 4 tee, one green, golf course
- Wild swimming, kayaking or tubing in the private Olympic-size natural pool in the creek
- Picnics down by the creek or the dam
- Nature walks through the forest and grasslands and along the 1km of creek frontage
- Running/mountain biking on Serenity Lane and various trails.
Eat and Drink
If you’d prefer not to cook in your villa then there are a variety of options in and around Kangaroo Valley. Most of the places to eat and drink are listed here. If you would like to pre-order local cuisine to cook or eat in the villa, try Caterina or The Valley Table, and note that you may need to pre-order the weekend before.

Cafes, restaurants and pubs
The General Cafe (not to be confused with the General Store next door) is excellent for morning coffee and delicious brunch/lunch on Friday through Monday mornings.
The Friendly Inn is the local pub in Kangaroo Valley village and offers good quality pub cuisine and tasty beers. The Hampden Wine Lounge is a cosy old-world style place to enjoy some fine wine and pizza on Thursday – Saturday evenings (bookings essential). Maddisons offers breakfasts and lunches. Wildes plans to offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options.
There is also local Pizza takeaway restaurant and a Thai and Indian restaurant in the village but best to book before your stay if you want to dine in. You can also buy quality beers, wines and other beverages at Fine Wines and Ales in the village.

Wineries
A fun thing to do on the weekends in the Valley is to visit Yawarra Estate Winery on Saturday or Sunday afternoon to sample some local wines in a lovely setting overlooking a dam. You can bring a picnic or buy some cheeses there.
The Southern Highlands Wine Trail has 15 cellar doors in the Southern Highlands about 30-45 mins drive from Jingella Estate. A fabulous way to enjoy some local wine and fine food in the region.
Alternatively, there are 8 terrific cellar doors on the Shoalhaven South Coast within about a 45-minute drive from Jingella Estate.
Activities in the Area

Hampden Bridge and Kangaroo Valley Village
The Hampden Bridge – the oldest surviving suspension bridge in NSW - crosses the river before Kangaroo Valley Village and provides a photo opportunity above the river and local swimming hole. Kangaroo Valley village is a throwback to a bygone era with lots of quaint shops, restaurants and buildings.
Enjoy a canoe or kayak adventure
You can use our kayak in Rocks Pool for a bit of fun. However, if you are looking for a more serious kayak experience there are many different spots on the Kangaroo Valley and Shoalhaven Rivers to do that. Also, there are various business in Kangaroo valley that offer kayaks and/or guided kayak tours, such as Kangaroo Valley Safaris or Valley Outdoors.


Take a trike tour
Go on a free-wheelin’ tour and see Kangaroo Valley on a Boom Trike, with Kangaroo Valley Trike Tours.
Horse Riding


Fitzroy Falls
Fitzroy Falls is on the way to Jingella if you are driving through Bowral or Moss Vale or it is only a 15-minute drive from Jingella up Barrengarry Mountain. It offers easy short walks and longer ones as well as spectacular views.
Go bush walking
There are numerous walks you can do on our 146-acre property and you can walk along Bunkers Hill Road.
NSW National Parks offers many different walks at different levels of difficulty in and around Kangaroo Valley.
If you prefer to book a guided tour then there are various operators to choose from including Kangaroo Valley Adventure Company and Kangaroo Valley Safaris and Valley Outdoors


Mountain bike riding
Other than on Jingella Estate, there are many places in the area to ride a mountain bike – see trails, routes, and reports. There are a few places if you want to hire a bike such as Kangaroo Valley Safaris. You can also hire a bike at Kangaroo Valley Adventure Company or join one of their biking tours.
Golf
Designed by Jack Newton, Kangaroo Valley Golf Course is a picturesque and challenging 18- hole golf course and only 10 minutes from Jingella.
There are also several top golf courses within about half an hour of Jingella – Bowral Golf Course, Moss Vale Golf Course, Mt Broughton Golf Club, Worrigee Links Course, and Nowra Golf Club.

Events
Kangaroo Valley hosts a series of regular and one-off events during the year which you may wish to participate in – see the latest listing of upcoming events.
Regular events include:
- The Farmers Markets – on the second Sunday of every month from 9 am to 1 pm next to the local pub, The Friendly Inn.
- The Friendly Inn hosts live music and karaoke from time to time.
- The Annual Beer and BBQ Festival
- Arts in the Valley
- Music in the Valley
- Sculpture in the Valley
- Various events at the Kangaroo Community Hall including movies, music and other events.
